Sourcing Strategies for Manufacturers and Distributors - Chicagoland

Herb Shields, President of HCS Consulting has worked with manufacturers and distributors in Chicago.  As a purchasing consultant he has helped manufacturers and distributors to develop sourcing strategies for each of the commodities, materials, components, and services that they purchase.

The basis of the strategy development is a matrix which is developed by the client’s management and purchasing people with input from Herb Shields.

Once the matrix is finalized, the company can then develop commodity buying plans which are done on an annual basis.  These plans include negotiation strategies, key objectives, and historical data for the commodity.

Herb uses his 30+ years of purchasing management experience to achieve cost savings results for clients.  Herb teaches Purchasing at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago.  He is a frequent speaker on Purchasing opportunities for industry groups in Chicago and across the USA
